Stay Current: Updated List of Documentary Requirements for SSS Maternity Benefit Claim

Bringing a new life into the world is a remarkable journey, filled with joy and anticipation. As an expectant mother, you deserve every support and benefit available to ensure a smooth transition into motherhood. The Social Security System (SSS) is one such institution that aims to provide financial assistance to mothers during their maternity leave and after they give birth.

Staying current with the latest information about SSS' requirements is important if you want a hassle-free benefits claiming process. By understanding the necessary documents, you can ensure a smooth application process, granting you the peace of mind to focus on what truly matters—the well-being of yourself and your newborn.

Throughout this blog, we'll address the most recent changes in SSS regulations for maternity benefit claims.

First, let us familiarize ourselves with the fundamental prerequisites that every female SSS member must fulfill to avail themselves of the valuable SSS maternity benefits.

  1. To apply for Maternity Benefit, a member is required to have a My.SSS account and an enrolled disbursement account in the Disbursement Account Enrollment Module (DAEM). These two essential components are necessary for the application process and ensuring the smooth disbursement of the benefits.
  2. You can submit your application for Maternity Benefit claims within a period of ten years from the date of delivery, miscarriage, or emergency termination of pregnancy (ETP). This extended timeframe allows you ample opportunity to apply for the benefit and ensures that you can access the support you are entitled to, even if some time has passed since the event.
  3. Regardless of the number of offspring per childbirth or delivery, a female member will be entitled to receive payment for a single maternity benefit. The SSS recognizes the significance of each childbirth and ensures that ever eligible member receives the appropriate support, regardless of the number of children born during that particular instance.
  4. Payment of Maternity Benefit will be:
    • For Employed Members - given in advance by the employer within thirty (30) days from the date of filing of maternity leave application.
    • For SE/VM/OFW/NWS - directly paid by the SSS to the member.
Significant Changes:
