Making Healthcare Accessible: Becoming A PhilHealth Member As A First-time Jobseeker

Starting your first job is exciting, but do not let worries about fees get you down. Did you know that as a first-time jobseeker, you can get your PhilHealth Identification Number (PIN) completely free of charge? That is right, thanks to Republic Act No. 11261, also known as the First Time Jobseekers Assistance Act, you can skip the fees and access important health coverage and insurance as you begin to build your career path.

Here's the lowdown on Section 5 of RA 11261:

  • No fees for first-time jobseekers: You will not be charged any fees for processing your PhilHealth membership if you are a first-time jobseeker. This includes registration, member data recording, and card printing.
  • Proof of eligibility: To avail of this benefit, you just need to present a barangay certificate stating that you have not been formally employed before. Remember, making false statements comes with penalties under the Revised Penal Code.
So, how do you get your PhilHealth PIN? It's easy!
  1. Visit your nearest PhilHealth Local Health Insurance Office (LHIO). You can find a list of LHIOs and their contact details on the PhilHealth website
  2. Bring the following requirements:
    • Barangay Certificate stating you are a first-time jobseeker
    • Valid government-issued ID or your PSA birth certificate
    • Two copies recent 1x1 colored ID picture
  3. Fill out the PhilHealth Member Registration Form (PMRF). The LHIO staff will assist you if needed.
  4. Claim your PhilHealth Member Data Record (PMDR) card after processing, which usually takes about 15 to 30 minutes.
Your PhilHealth PIN is printed on your PMDR card. Keep it safe and secure, as you will need it to access PhilHealth benefits like hospitalization, laboratory tests, and other medical services.

Getting your PhilHealth PIN is a crucial step towards securing your health and well-being as you embark on your career journey. Do not forget this valuable benefit as a first-time jobseeker. Share this information with your friends and family who are starting their first jobs too. Let us all prioritize health and make the most of this helpful law.
